How to use the decisions log, store assets, and generate a handoff package.
WritersRoom's project sidebar has three additional tools beyond the cockpit: Decisions, Assets, and Handoff. Together they turn a conversation history into a structured creative record.
Using the Decisions log
Log a decision
When you make a significant creative choice — locking in a plot point, choosing between two character directions, settling on a tone — record it in Decisions. Add a title, description, and the rationale behind it.
Review decisions before pitching
The Decisions log becomes a record of your creative process — useful for writing pitch materials and for defending creative choices to collaborators or producers.
Generating a Handoff package
Go to the Handoff tab
From your project page, select the Handoff tab. This view summarises your project's key data: premise, genre, memory objects, decisions, and files.
Generate the package
Click Generate Handoff. The AI produces a structured one-document creative brief — premise, character summaries, world rules, key decisions, and a development narrative — formatted for a collaborator, producer, or GreenLight audience test.
The Handoff package is also a great way to onboard a new collaborator mid-development. Share it and they'll have full context on where the project stands and why every major decision was made.
